Outdoor Wedding at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa

Brittany and Rob chose the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa for their wedding ceremony & reception. We collaborated with Hoste Events to bring Brittany & Rob’s vision of a sophisticated & romantic wedding to life. There were so many great details: from Brittany’s blue satin Manolo Blahniks and antique lace wrapped bridal bouquet to ceramic tile escort cards with handwritten calligraphy for each guest and a delicious family-style dinner served on tables adorned with lush garlands and florals and a long head table under sheer white cabanas with hanging candelabras draped with lush eucalyptus leaves. “We tried to do just enough and never too much of anything,” says Brittany. Check out more details of this wedding as featured on The Knot

The color scheme was cream, ivory and white with a hint of blush pink and touches of green.

The fresh elements we used were roses, lisianthus, freesia, hydrangea, peonies, dahlias, queen anne’s lace, stock & seeded eucalyptus.

Our Favorite Weddings of 2016

We can’t believe 2016 just whizzed right by and it’s already 2017 – Happy New Year! Feeling so blessed to be a part of so many wonderful occasions in 2016 we thought we’d share a small selection of some of our favorites with you.

Setting our sites on 2017, we look forward to helping more wonderful couples, families and friends celebrate their special moments in the new year!

BOUQUETSnicolebouquet1nicolebouquet2newNicole & David got married at the beautiful Bel-Air Bay Club in March. We created this garden-style white and sagey green bouquet with hand dyed silk ribbons to complement Nicole’s vintage eyelet dress that her grandmother originally wore when she got married. So sweet!

jennbouquet2newjennbouquet3jennbouquet4newJenn & Michael got married at the La Chureya Estate in Palm Springs. We absolutely loved making the bouquets – aren’t the muted pastel shades so delicious? Jenn’s bridesmaids wore cute floral dresses from Anthropologie, a great choice to complement the beautiful colors of the desert.

jackiebouquet1newjackiebouquet1This peony & succulent bouquet we made for our wonderful bride, Jackie will definitely go down as one of our all-time favorite bouquets EVER! We were so thrilled to be a part of Jackie & Matt’s wedding at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in May with Robin Baab of RoandCo Events. Stay tuned for more of their stunning wedding featured in our gallery.

One of our favorite “friendors” Danielle of Orange Blossom Special Events got married to her love, Bryce this October and we couldn’t have been more honored to help create the florals for their chic Cicada wedding. Her dark and dramatic black calla and white anemone bouquet was a definitely highlight for 2016!

catalinabouquet1newcatalinabouquet2We just had to include Catalina’s white, blush and green bouquet because well, it’s just so pretty and is a good representation of many of the bridal bouquets we’ve enjoyed creating this year. White, blush and green was a popular color scheme in 2016, and will probably carry through to 2017 as the combination is classic and elegant.

sejinbouquet2 sejinbouquet3Dreamy pastel shades of lavender, blush, peach and cream are why we included Sejin and
her bridesmaids for this year’s bouquet favorites. Long strands of ribbons and dresses in subtle shades of lavender have us oohing and aahing. See more of their Saddlerock Ranch beautiful wedding further down in this post.

michellebouquet1new michellebouquet2newBurgundy peonies, blush and ivory blooms with sage greens were the perfect combination for Michelle & Chris’ November wedding in Santa Barbara. We love a gal that isn’t afraid of wearing a non-traditional color too – Michelle went for a navy bridal gown and her bridesmaids’ wore fabulous blush sequin gowns.

CEREMONY

vanessajeff_ceremony1vanessajeff_ceremony2newvanessajeff_ceremony3We started off 2016 at one of our favorite venues, Carondelet House with a really great couple, Vanessa & Jeff. We loved creating a lush greenery curtain along with flowing drapery as their ceremony backdrop, along with lush greens and lots of candles to mark the aisle.

heatherpablo_ceremony1 heatherpablo_ceremony3newheatherpablo_ceremony2newWe chose Heather & Pablo’s Four Seasons Beverly Hills ceremony as one of our 2016 favorites not only for their dramatic rose petal aisle and romantic chuppah, but also because Michael and Anna Costa captured some amazing images of the happy couple dancing down the aisle as cannons shot confetti into the air!

RECEPTION

catalina_ctrpc1catalina_ctrpc2newCatalina & Brock’s Malibu Rocky Oaks very intimate reception kicks off our 2016 Reception favorites because we are suckers for a super long farm table draped with soft gauze runners, adorned with our lush florals and lots of beautiful details, and set under the pergola of a gorgeous Italian style villa overlooking the Santa Monica Mountains. SIGH… SO BEAUTIFUL.

Carly and Ian’s Oak Canyon Ranch wedding was chock full of wonderful details: from the cute little fig “place cards” for each guest, large fabric banners hanging around the ranch to their very sweet and personalized sweetheart table. Not pictured but also super fun was the pretzel bar during cocktail hour and the wall of donuts!

sejinmike_ctrpc1sejinmike_ctrpc3newsejinmike_ctrpc2newWe can’t get enough of Sejin and Mike’s romantic pastel wedding at Saddlerock Ranch‘s Chateau le Dome so their reception is also part of our 2016 favorites. Hand painted signage by CCL Weddings, coordinated linens by La Tavola and colored glassware from Borrowed Blu added to all the pastel prettiness.

daniellebryce_ctrpc1daniellebryce_ctrpc2new daniellebryce_ctrpc3As we mentioned above, Danielle and Bryce’s Cicada wedding was one of our top faves this year. Not only did we love Danielle’s dramatic bouquet but we also loved their ultra chic reception – a refreshing departure from many of our other weddings. Tall ‘floppy tulip’ centerpieces and modern white bouquets tied with black satin accompanied lots of candles and gold chargers all on black sequin linens!

melnancy_ctrpc4melnancy_ctrpc3new melnancy_ctrpc2melnancy_ctrpc5Who knew you could get married at a big, eclectic antique warehouse? Well Melody and Nancy did just that at Big Daddy’s Antiques in Culver City! Flower filled bird cages (a nod to the 2 massive bird cages already there), wrought iron lanterns hanging over the main bar and colorful florals in mismatched containers mingled with all kinds of unique items (for sale btw) like marquee signs, vintage mirrors and art pieces, old bowling pins and buddha statues, and a wide range of funky furniture spread out all over the warehouse. Party!

It’s been a while since we’ve been to Descanso Gardens so when Natalia & Michael asked us to be a part of their beautiful garden wedding we were thrilled. Their wedding makes our top 2016 faves not only for the fresh take on classic garden florals but also because we just love love loved their sweet cake table of the cutest individual cakes by Fantasy Frostings

Carrie & Andrew Chan’s Wedding – Personals

Carrie was a DIY bride who chose to use lanterns for centerpieces and lighting through café lights hung overhead as most of the decor at her father’s home in Chatsworth, CA. Carrie and Andrew did decide, however, to hire a professional to do the personals (bouquets, corsages & boutonnieres). We were thrilled they came to us to help with those key pieces. All of the photographs were taken by Gabriel Boone Photography. Photos were taken at Orcutt Ranch and the home of Carrie’s father.

The bouquets were soft and ethereal in shades of peach, white and green. They had a fresh California feel with eucalyptus leaves and succulents, including the bride’s favorite: strings of pearls. We also incorporated peach Juliet garden roses, as well as soft white lisianthus, white and peach stock, and spray roses.

C&A 1

The bride’s dress is by Theia Couture. Makeup was done by Leslie Chan, the groom’s sister. Hair was done by Sai Hernandez.

C&A 2

Carrie, being a DIY bride, opted for a less traditional look for her bridesmaids (all sisters of the bride or groom) and let each girl pick their own peach hued dress with matching accessories. Each of the bridesmaid’s bouquets was a similar look and feel to the bride’s.

The groom donning a J Crew suit sported a boutonniere of peach spray roses and eucalyptus wrapped in hemp twine. The look for the groomsmen, was similar to the ladies, in that each one got to pick their own outfit, with either a vest or suspenders. The boutonnieres for the groomsmen and the fathers were kept simple with succulents also wrapped in twine.

We asked Carrie what her favorite elements of the wedding day were; here’s her answer:  “So difficult to choose! Highlights were: Singing at the top of our lungs with my sister in the car, “I can hear the bells” from Hairspray, to release some nervous energy. Definitely walking down the aisle, I surprised myself with how emotional it was! I also loved some of the unplanned moments, like hearing one of our favorite songs playing right when we were walking out for dinner– (the Bee Gee’s To Love Somebody). Towards the end of dinner (we had family-style thai food!) there were fireworks in the neighborhood– unrelated to us but it felt appropriately celebratory for how I was feeling in that moment. I was so glad that we skipped the traditional cake and went with donuts from our favorite local shop, Earl’s. Everybody could just grab one and get back to the dance floor. Our wedding dj also surprised us with a dance remix of one of my all-time favorite songs, Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al”.  I remember Andrew and I were dancing barefoot in the grass to it and thinking that it doesn’t get any better than this. The advantage of having your wedding in your Dad’s backyard is that you don’t have an end-time! We left around 3:30am and our friends stayed and danced until 4am! Knowing that everyone enjoyed the night as much as we did was the icing on the cake!”

K + M’s wedding at Marvimon

melkel1

We were really happy to be a part of K + M’s wedding at Marvimon back in May with Kristeen LaBrot Events. M’s bouquet included a fabulous airplant amongst coral and peach blooms. K’s bouquet was a more classic and understated version. And you can never go wrong with coral charm peonies! Thanks to Kim Fox Photography for the gorgeous images.
